Teeth Whitening

Many different factors contribute to stained or dark teeth. Teeth may be stained from the outside by tobacco, coffee & tea, medications, etc. Or, one or more teeth may become dark due to factors from the inside including trauma or death of the nerve.

Stained teeth can be whitened significantly to a beautiful shade. In-office teeth whitening is available but the at-home whitening process is preferred and may be best for you. If the at-home process is selected, clear plastic trays will be made to fit perfectly over your teeth. A whitening gel is placed into the trays and they may be worn twice a day up to one hour each time.

Day whitening is beneficial because the patient can adjust/reduce the length of time worn to help control sensitivity. The length of time it takes to achieve the desired level of whitening depends on the nature of the discoloration and the whiteness desired.
